Legal Consultation

Dr. Simonson has provided expert consultation on a variety of medicolegal cases for more than 30 years. His consultation draws on his extensive experience as an educator and clinician. In this capacity Dr. Simonson serves as an educator for clients representing both plaintiff and defense where he focuses on making potentially complicated principles of medication use and misuse, pharmacology and pharmacokinetics understandable to attorneys and juries. Cases that Dr. Simonson has consulted on include:

  • Causation of medication-related problems
  • Analysis of apparent adverse reactions to medications
  • Interpretation of the clinical consequences of drug interactions
  • Investigation of harmful and fatal events associated with drug therapy
  • Investigation of harmful and fatal events caused by inappropriate prescribing

  • Interpretation of blood-level data of medications related to therapeutic and toxic effects
  • Standards of practice relating to prescribing of medications
  • Standards of pharmacy practice relating to the pharmacist’s obligations and responsibilities
